CD Projekt RED Working with Platige Image Studio on a New Project

CD Projekt RED announces that it has begun collaborating with Plastige Image Studio on a new project. The first result of this cooperation is a trailer directed by Oscar-nominated Tomasz Bagiński. It will be unveiled on Thursday, June 2nd during the CD Projekt Summer Conference preceding the E3 trade show in Los Angeles, CA.
“Working with Platige Image on the first Witcher game left us with a great impression. They are truly amazing; their work is clearly world-class. We are certain their video material will spice up our newest production. While a high-quality rendered movie takes a lot of work to produce and is short compared to the total gameplay time, it is very impressive, and thus adds considerably to the overall mood of the game,” said Adam Badowski, The Witcher 2 Game Director.
Tomasz Bagiński and his Platige Image group were behind cinematics for the first Witcher, which were nominated for Visual Effect Society Award.
“I am really happy to team up with CD Projekt RED again and to return to the great Witcher family. Both our companies have developed a lot over the past few years. Although our studio has worked on many interesting and major projects, I remember our participation on the first Witcher very fondly. When the opportunity arose to collaborate again, I didn’t have to think twice. The trailer we have prepared for E3 is the first fruit of our renewed cooperation,” – Said Tomasz Bagiński, Trailer Director.

“The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings” Slaying bugs

CD Projekt RED announces that Patch 1.1 for the Russian versions of “The Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings” published on May 26 was incompatible with them, thus it may have caused problems for some Russian versions of the game.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. For the last 24 hours we worked really hard in close cooperation with 1C-SoftClub and Snowball Studios employees to solve all the issues related to the patch.

For users patching for the first time from a fresh DVD install, please download from the following link:

For any users that have already patched up the game, please download from the following link which updates version to version 1.1:

For its part, “1C-SoftClub” also wants to apologize to the gamers for the inconvenience they have experienced lately. In addition, as a compensation for recent events 1C-SoftClub and CD Projekt RED will supply Russian gamers with “Ultimate Magical Suite” DLC and also confirm that Patch 1.1 will remove DRM from Russian versions of the game.

Please note that for people who installed patch 1.1 Beta found here,, the patch should still work fine and you don’t need to replace it and this patch will also be compatible with future patch releases.

Japanese version of The Witcher 2

CD Projekt and a Japanese publisher agreed at the start of the project that the publisher would complete the Japanese translation of The Witcher 2 and handle distribution of this version in Japan. News regarding the game’s release in Japanese generated some misunderstandings, for which we must apologize to fans.

The intention from the outset was to release the Japanese version concurrently with the world-wide release of the game and the other language versions in May of this year. Unfortunately, work on the Japanese localization was delayed. Though we cannot guarantee this, a Japanese language pack may become available for download at an as yet undetermined time in the future, subsequent to the release in Japan of the Japanese version of the game.”

Patch 1.1 is here, what’s next?

We finally released patched 1.1. We are very sorry for the delays, but as you can see there are many versions of the game and we had to test each very carefully.
As for today, we’ve created stand-alone patch and DLC downloads. This is mainly due to the fact that game launcher in version 1.0 is not yet stable enough. Plus the server infrastructure provided by an external company is not quite bullet proof. But with the stand-alone downloads, we hope you will be able to enjoy the much improved version of the game and even better, now it’s DRM free!
Also since our forum is still not live and user registration is not working properly, please don’t bother registering the game on the website yet.
So what’s next? First we have setup our own team to improve the server structure and repair the above mentioned game registration. A team is also working to finalize our new forum. We will launch these services very soon. For sure, you will be informed as soon as they are ready here.
Then, by the end of next week you can expect some more free stuff available online. Stay tuned, especially for our online conference scheduled for the 2nd of June. Exciting new announcements are coming!

The “Downloadable content” option in the Game Launcher does not work properly, please don’t use it.

This option (same as Register Game) still doesn’t work properly, but for every resulting problem we provide you with a workaround. The Troll DLC is now included in the patch. You can find the instructions on how to get other free DLC in the news below. Currently the only problem remaining is with the Language Packs. We will provide you with a solution for this issue as soon as possible. Registration through the Launcher will be fixed in the upcoming days, and our goal is to have it work perfectly in patch 1.2. Sorry for the inconvenience, and please stay tuned.

Russian 1.1 beta patch and a workaround

Dear Russian Fans,

Please excuse us for the problems you are having. We want to assure you that we are aware of them, and we will solve them completely, sooner or later (hopefully sooner;-).

As of now, we can only offer you a workaround on how to patch the Russian edition to version 1.1. Final solution will be released soon.

Here’s how it works: uninstall or reinstall you current game to get pure, non-patched DVD version installed on your computer. Then please download Russian patch 1.1 from here

It ‘s called beta only because we have limited capabilities of testing patches with Russian builds, and we want to provide you with the solution ASAP. You can install it, test it, and report to us, if it patches correctly. In worst case scenario you’ll need to reinstall your game. In the best case scenario you’ll enjoy a full DRM-Free version right away. The exact same patch will be released tomorrow (once everyone except for us;) wakes up) and it will get the final status.

Soon enough you can also expect a patch that will be updating installed games to 1.1 version.

Sorry for inconvenience.
