Language packs, future game and Community support

Dear fans,

The Polish and English voice-over language packs are available for downloading. You can get them from here:

– Polish

– English

Additionally, all The Witcher 2 users can change the Text Language of the game to the one that suits them best by updating to patch 1.2. Patch 1.2 includes the text strings for all the language versions of the game.

Moreover, we would like to assure you that announcing the Xbox 360 version of the game does not mean discontinuing support for the PC version. We read your comments, we listen to your opinions and we are working hard on the patch. Among other fixes the patch 1.3 will add support for 4:3 resolutions.

One more urgent matter needs addressing as well. The work on putting up our new forum takes a long time − much too long − and trust us, we are waiting for it as eagerly as you are. Our official site is being developed by an external company and we did not foresee the problems that ensued. Since the game’s premiere we are trying to reach out to all The Witcher 2 users and provide them with answers to their questions. It would be much easier for us to communicate with you and provide fast and efficient support if we had a forum.  We definitely hope that this inconvenient situation will come to an end soon.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is coming to Xbox 360

The Witcher 2 was released internationally for the PC in mid-May. It has been received exceptionally well by gamers and media alike, and sold through 400,000 copies in its first week. An Xbox 360 adaptation was announced yesterday, and will be shown behind closed doors at the E3 trade show next week in media-only presentations.
CDProjekt RED Executive Producer John Mamais stated, “We’re very proud of The Witcher 2 and the highly positive reactions it has received from both our players and the media. Taking it to the Xbox 360 represents an exciting opportunity to introduce it to a new segment of the gaming audience. I’d like to stress that we are doing a full adaptation to the new platform, not just a straight port. Technology-wise, this means we are aiming to push its limits in order to get visual quality as close to high-end PCs as possible – and during E3, you’ll see how good the results we’ve already achieved are. Gameplay-wise, it means we are looking closely at all the feedback we have received about the PC release, and are addressing it during the adaptation process to be sure we provide a superb, completely polished gaming experience. Of course, we are not changing our vision. The Witcher 2 for Xbox 360 will have exactly same flavor, that of deep, mature, non-linear role-playing.”
To view its announcement trailer, please head over to Gametrailers website. More information about the project will become available soon.

CD Projekt RED Working with Platige Image Studio on a New Project

CD Projekt RED announces that it has begun collaborating with Plastige Image Studio on a new project. The first result of this cooperation is a trailer directed by Oscar-nominated Tomasz Bagiński. It will be unveiled on Thursday, June 2nd during the CD Projekt Summer Conference preceding the E3 trade show in Los Angeles, CA.
“Working with Platige Image on the first Witcher game left us with a great impression. They are truly amazing; their work is clearly world-class. We are certain their video material will spice up our newest production. While a high-quality rendered movie takes a lot of work to produce and is short compared to the total gameplay time, it is very impressive, and thus adds considerably to the overall mood of the game,” said Adam Badowski, The Witcher 2 Game Director.
Tomasz Bagiński and his Platige Image group were behind cinematics for the first Witcher, which were nominated for Visual Effect Society Award.
“I am really happy to team up with CD Projekt RED again and to return to the great Witcher family. Both our companies have developed a lot over the past few years. Although our studio has worked on many interesting and major projects, I remember our participation on the first Witcher very fondly. When the opportunity arose to collaborate again, I didn’t have to think twice. The trailer we have prepared for E3 is the first fruit of our renewed cooperation,” – Said Tomasz Bagiński, Trailer Director.

Japanese version of The Witcher 2

CD Projekt and a Japanese publisher agreed at the start of the project that the publisher would complete the Japanese translation of The Witcher 2 and handle distribution of this version in Japan. News regarding the game’s release in Japanese generated some misunderstandings, for which we must apologize to fans.

The intention from the outset was to release the Japanese version concurrently with the world-wide release of the game and the other language versions in May of this year. Unfortunately, work on the Japanese localization was delayed. Though we cannot guarantee this, a Japanese language pack may become available for download at an as yet undetermined time in the future, subsequent to the release in Japan of the Japanese version of the game.”
